New Members

Members and potential new friends,

Solstice is currently working on ways to get new, genuine
people in without opening registration to a bot influx.
The three recent examples demonstrate a needed change.
Bots used to trickle in and were easily dealt with.
The past three slime bursts have been 50 plus per day.
Odds on, a request will be made for a brief email,
somewhat like Montalk did in the last days of Noble Realms.

A few months back, Blue Wrote

At the moment, if you click on registration,

This forum is not accepting new registrations.

Could be changed to

By invite only
or
EMail x@nobledreams.co.uk

(Sol, you may need to set up an email address redirect  in HostGator Control Panel for that)

Re: New Members

Okay, I remember way back when there was an automatic process where we had it set up so that all new registrations would be automatically added to the 'robot' user group and the REAL users would be manually added to the 'Members' user group.

Any idea on how to implement that once again?

I think that's what we should do again. I remember it working for a many months with no problems. tummenupp

Re: New Members

Sol

The Auto sp/ot was the reference made to
“easily dealt with” but as you pointed out back then,
you had just heard of  “a new type of  bot ...”
apparently the clustermobs of late.

So even if that feature was re instituted, there would
still be a daily load of crap to deal with. Saw one forum
that after a few weeks suddenly had thousands of  “members.”

Might turn out the same with an open email, but that‘s the way
Hope arrived and you must have done something comparable
with Tuffm.
