Re: 14 stories that prove animals have souls

This hurts VERY BAD to look at so be aware it will make your heart break - BUT the wonder is that it does make our heart break and I think that is a good thing. And so many are developing hearts that break, thanks to animals. By saving them they are saving us.

Re: 14 stories that prove animals have souls

This story gave me many, many sleepless nights and destroyed me. Then I realized that my heart was growing, and all I can do is pray that the people that do these kinds of things will realize their heart also. But here is a little help -

Re: 14 stories that prove animals have souls

"Our animal friends’ non-reactive and forgiving natures can teach us positive spiritual lessons on a daily basis." ~Eckhart Tolle

Tolle explains why this may be the case. “With people, the mind is always in the way. There is too much going on on a mental, emotional level. With a dog, there is just an outflow of love.” This natural outflow of love is why both Millan and Tolle believe that dogs can awaken our own connectedness with being. Dogs, like many other animals, have a native readiness to celebrate life and to live in the moment. Sharing our lives with dogs can help us learn about relationships, responsibility, and giving and receiving love, says Tolle. Millan provides an example of how dogs can teach us how to operate in our relationships with our closest friends and family. When we are away at work during the day, we may not always be home on time and our dog may be waiting impatiently for our return. No matter how late we are, however, we are instantly forgiven the moment we walk in the door. Dogs are always willing to give that gift of forgiveness, which is something that every person should also be willing to do for those we love. As Millan explains, “Power, for me, comes when you allow dogs, as well as people, to just be.” In the last few years, Millan has spent his efforts developing his new foundation, which provides money to no-kill shelters and other organizations committed to saving dogs, as well as funds for relocating misplaced and misunderstood dogs. In addition, honouring the legacy of Cesar’s beloved dog, Daddy, his Daddy’s Emergency Animal Rescue (DEAR) Fund provides assistance to dogs who are victims of abuse, puppy mills and natural disasters. In his new television show on the NatGeo WILD channel, Cesar Millan’s Leader of the Pack, Millan searches for the perfect candidates to adopt rescued dogs.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compassion

“Greek and Roman philosophers distrusted (feeling) compassion. In their view, reason alone was the proper guide to conduct. They regarded compassion (a virtue) as an effect, neither admirable nor contemptible.” —Thomas Szasz, Cruel Compassion

Conversely, a recent study of the historical Jesus has claimed that the founder of Christianity sought to elevate Judaic compassion as the supreme human virtue, capable of reducing suffering and fulfilling our God ordained purpose of transforming the world into something more worthy of its creator

http://charterforcompassion.org/node/6689

Compassion begins on the individual level, with the self.  It begins with the worry we have for ourselves and our lives; it begins with our personal sufferings and darknesses.  To cultivate compassion, we must first define it for ourselves.  We must start with what the mind clings to- images.  We are bombarded with hundreds of useless or disturbing images everyday through media and advertising.  They reel in our minds, even when we turn off the screen.  What if we can replace these images?  What if we can focus on this thing compassion through positive images, images that unify us instead of alienate us, images of the spirit and not the ego; would this be a starting point in cultivating the light that lies within all of us? Will we then begin to know compassion?  And once we know compassion and act on it, thereby deepening our knowledge, will we then recognize an individual like Adam Lanza before the seeds of the dark sprout and take root and tragedies like Newtown take place?

http://www.idausa.org/philosopher/

According to a television program that aired in South Korea, in 2011, “South Korea’s Dangerous Health Food—Inconvenient Truth About Dog Meat,” physician Dr. PD Kim, said: “Currently, there is no law regulating the industry of dog slaughter, so the majority of dog slaughterhouses do not carry proper sanitary equipment.” The undercover team visited slaughterhouses throughout the country and unfailingly found unhygienic conditions. Such sites were alarmingly common: swarms of flies around dead dogs lying on filthy worktables; splattered stains of blood and bodily fluids from the slaughtering process covering the walls; butchers not wearing proper sanitary uniforms, and dogs being processed on grimy cement floors.

Charming Charlie, who was rescued from a slaughterhouse hidden in a residential neighborhood in Seoul, South Korea, is something of a philosopher. A Great Dane-Tosa mix, he is very curious about meeting new people, but still a bit fearful from his wretched past. He slowly approaches until close enough to “gaze into your soul,” as Courtney, Charlie’s guardian, laughingly tells it.

When Courtney first met Charlie at Family Dogs New Life Shelter, in Portland, which welcomed him with open arms in August, from South Korea, she sat down to greet him, and when he moved within an inch of her face, she wondered if he was going to take a bite out of her. But, no, this gentle prince of a dog simply gazed into her eyes for what seemed like an eternity, as if he wanted to know everything about her, especially if she was worthy of his trust. Courtney immediately saw that Charlie’s eyes were deep with love and, despite his uncontrollable trembling, and sheer terror and shrieking at the mere sight of a leash, she very soon brought him to his new home to live with her two dogs, Caleb and Libby.

Re: 14 stories that prove animals have souls

I am sorry if I have hijacked this thread Val, there was I thought something on the forum about healing our souls by helping animals, can't find it right now.

I remember somewhere a story of a Mother Bear in China who was caged and horribly tortured by Chinese to remove bile from her because they use it in some stupid medicine man way ( how dumb they must be to think that they are healing ANYONE by causing such suffering)! But this Momma Bear saw her baby being hooked up to this vile torture and went ballistic and all hell broke loose. I wish God would have reached down his hand and helped her.

But it seems, that changes in our universe are happening, slowly, bit by bit and we must keep the faith and realize that we are fighting a battle that so few even recognize, but some of us ache to win.

I love that I can come here and speak of these things and I KNOW that YOU KNOW how very much it matters and how very much it hurts - Thank you -

Chinese Bile Bears To Be Rescued By Animal Welfare Group In Largest Mission Ever

BEIJING, April 15 (Reuters) - An animal welfare group said on Tuesday it will save 130 bears from a bile extraction farm in China, its largest rescue so far, in a bid to end a business that has sparked outrage over animal cruelty amid growing opposition.

Hong Kong-based Animals Asia says as many as 10,000 bears are held in captivity in China and used for bile extraction, often under poor conditions that cause long-term physical and psychological suffering.

The bile, taken repeatedly from incisions in the bears' gall bladders, is used in some Chinese medicines that claim to cure eye and liver ailments.

Animals Asia reached a deal with state-owned Flower World to take over its bear bile farm in the southern Guangxi region's capital Nanning and convert it into a sanctuary for the Asiatic black bears, known as moon bears for a white crescent marking on their chests.

The deal was agreed to after company executives said they were losing money on the venture and acknowledged it was "time for change".

"Particularly in the last two years, there has been a lot of public discussion about the practice of extracting bear bile from live bears. Most people oppose it, so we consider prospects for the bear bile business will be less and less optimistic," Flower World General Manager Yan Shaohong told reporters.

Toiling, weeping, we Blacksmiths of the Divine continue to make this world free and kind and loving FOR ALL.

Thanks for posting that, because I hadn't heard.  That's a wonderful victory and one that I wish we could see repeated throughout all cruel industries.

Re: 14 stories that prove animals have souls

https://gma.yahoo.com/baby-rhino-glued- … .html?vp=1

An orphaned baby rhino has bonded with its keeper after seeing South African poachers mutilate his mother for her horn.

The animal was brought to the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Center in South Africa and affectionately named Gretjie by the staff.

The poachers slaughtered his mother at the Kapama Private Game Reserve in South Africa on the night of May 7, according to the center.

By the time rangers were alerted and rushed to the scene, the poachers were gone and the rhino was dead. Next to her body, the rangers found a baby rhino refusing to leave her side, crying inconsolably, Hoedspruit Endangered Species Center officials said.

Since arriving at their sanctuary, however, the thick-skinned creature can be seen clumsily rolling down to the floor and affectionately laying his head on a female staffer's lap.

The total number of rhino poached in South Africa last year increased to 1,004, or 50 percent, from 2012, according to the Department of Environmental Affairs in the Republic of South Africa.

Rhino horns are in high demand and priced in the traditional Asian medicine market, particularly in China and Vietnam.

The Dominion of Love

Perhaps the Star Trek - "Prime Directive" applies?

"Some day, my people are gonna come up with some sort of a doctrine, something that says what we can and can't do out here, should and shouldn't do. But until someone tells me that they've drafted that...directive, I'm gonna have to remind myself every day that we didn't come out here to play God."
